Leaving a comment because I don't see contact info anywhere. Do you have a catalogue of leathers available? And is there a direct way to contact you by e-mail?

Thanks!

I am a book binder in Columbus, OH as well! I am looking for a teacher in fine binding and most importantly, book repair, restoration, and conservation. I would love to speak with John T or any other conservationist or historical-type binder.
Michael:

I enjoyed reading about your bookbinding achievements, please keep the information coming; I am a letterpress printer with an interest in casting type on my Monotype Supercaster. Recently I purchased a Hoole hand-held bookbinding embossing tool, well it surprised me, it appeared to be 'sand-cast' instead of what I figured would be logically pantograph cut or stamped with a steel die. Quite interesting.

I wonder if you would dedicate a blog entry to more information on this company, what was left over, what were the processes, historical documentation, etc.

Is there a historical 'lineage' that you are aware of, as some tools I understand are marked "Snieder & Hoole" Cincinnati, Ohio.

Thank you in advance,

Dan
Ontario, Canada

What a joy it is just to view some of your bindings. I am so glad you are continuing in this work. I continue to dabble, now on a hobbyist basis. Seeing your work makes me want to get back out in the shop. My only regret is that Walnut Creek was closer to me. I do get to NYC about once a year. Maybe we can catch up in the near future.
John - Columbus, Ohio

Good morning Mr. Chrisman,

Will you continue to carry your bookbinding and restoration instruction DVDs? These were invaluable to me as I was learning to repair family Bibles and I would love to refer others interested in better quality book repair and restoration to your teaching series.

Thank you, and congratulations on your move to New York!

Best,
Carolee
Greetings Milton,
So very nice to hear from you! Thanks for visiting, and for the fine comments. I'd love to see the book you bound for His Holiness. In fact I'd be glad to post it here on the BLOG if you'd like.
We'll post off a sample book to you tomorrow. It's over thirty pages of awesome leathers, papers, threads, etc. Our new calf is selling so quickly that we've commenced yet another production run at FRANZ HOFFMANNS in Stuttgart. We also have much more in stock than what's in the sample book, so call or email if you have any questions.
Glad you like the calendar. My grandfather (LeRoy A. Chrisman) used to read The Saturday Evening Post, so we felt it was a fitting calendar this year since we've moved to N.Y/L.I.
We look forward to talking to you soon.
With all good wishes,
Michael
Michael Chrisman
BBWS, Inc.
(347) 556-7133

G'day there, I throughly enjoyed this site and enjoyed the pictures and explanations. I have also bound a historical Bible, I was commissioned to bind a very large new Bible for the Pope's Australian (Sydney) visit in 2008, I was very proud to have done it and even though it was a very ordinary binding (as this is what I how I was instructed to bind it) it turned out well, but no were near to the superb finish of the Bible that I have just seen.
I have been restoring books for the last 15 years and a hand binder for nearly 30 years, we have just opened a second new location and I am looking for more equipment and supplies, do you have a hard copy catalogue, also can you send me the samples of the calf and goat leathers. Oh and thanks for the calendar it look great in my bindery. Regards Milton W. Please reply ASAP as I wish to place some orders.
